“Westworld” Creator Lisa Joy To Pen “Battlestar Galactica” Movie While Francis Lawrence Eyes Director’s Chair



The big screen adaptation of the cult classic BATTLESTAR GALACTICA has taken a huge step forward as screenwriter has stepped in to pen the script while is eyeing the director’s chair.

Earlier this year The Tracking Board broke the news that Michael De Luca was joining the producing team alongside Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark at Bluegrass Films for the long-gestating sci-fi project at Universal. Jay Polidoro will oversee the project at Universal.

The original series created by Glen A. Larson followed a group of humans who survived a surprise attack by intelligent robots known as Cylons, which decimated the human civilizations of the twelve planets. The survivors were led by the warship Galactica to find a mythic thirteenth planet named Earth.

De Luca and Joy are no strangers, as he is also also attached to produce Reminiscence, Joy’s 2013 Hit List script.

Joy currently serves as the writer and executive producer of the HBO sci-fi western, Westworld. Her previous credits include ’s  Burn Notice and Pushing Daisies. She is repped by .

Lawrence is currently working on thriller Red Sparrow starring Jennifer Lawrence, with whom he worked on the Hunger Games franchise. He is also been rumored to be interested in directing the all-female Ocean’s 11 spin-off. He is repped by and .
