Charlie Hunnam has joined the cast of 999 aka TRIPLE NINE depending on who you talk to. Christoph Waltz and Cate Blanchett are in talks to join him. The project follows a group of crooked cops who plan a major heist and realize they’re going to need to shoot a fellow officer to get away with it. And that officer just happens to be the new rookie on the force. Hunnam will play the rookie cop. Waltz would play Hunnam’s uncle and Blanchett would find herself playing a “notorious mobster’s Lady Macbeth-esque wife who’s really pulling the strings behind the heist.”
Matthew Cooke wrote the original (2010 Hit List & Black List) spec that landed the awesome, aussie director John Hillcoat of “The Proposition” and “Lawless” fame. Beacon of cinema, Megan Ellison will produce alongside Keith Redmon, Bard Dorros and Steve Golin.
Hunnam can be seen currently in (the summer’s best blockbuster yet) “Pacific Rim” and will appear next in Guillermo del Toro “Crimson Peak.” The wonderful, wonderful Waltz was last seen chewing the hell out of some scenery in Tarantino’s “Django Unchained.” Up next for him is the greatly anticipated film, “The Zero Theorem” from Terry Gilliam. Blanchett will be see very soon in Woody Allen’s “Blue Jasmine.”
Hunnam and Blanchett are repped by CAA while Waltz is repped by ICM.
