J.K. Simmons has been cast as the lead role in the upcoming supernatural drama series from Starz titled COUNTERPART. The series was created by Justin Marks, who has written the upcoming Jungle Book remake from Disney. Simmons will star as Howard Silk, a UN agent that is having rough patch, when he discovers that his superiors are hiding the knowledge of a parallel dimension. Silk keeps in contact with his counterpart named Prime in the other dimension. The themes of the series deal with regret and lost opportunities. Oscar nominated director Morten Tyldum, The Imitation Game, is set to direct the first two episodes.
Known for his Oscar winning performance in Whiplash, Simmons will be seen in the upcoming blockbuster Terminator Genisys, and in the upcoming epic Kong: Skull Island.
