Comedy cohorts Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are reuniting for HOLMES & WATSON from writer-director Etan Cohen. The laffer is inspired by the infamous tales penned by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle that follow Sherlock Holmes and his loyal sidekick Dr. Watson.
The pair have previously starred together in Talladega Nights and Step Brothers. Talladega costar Sacha Baron Cohen was previously attached to the project with Ferrell when Sony bought the project. He fell out of the project when it stalled, but Sony made it a priority when they saw availability for Ferrell and Reilly.
Ferrell’s Gary Sanchez Productions produces with Mosaic with Chris Henchy and Jessica Elbaum overseeing for Gary Sanchez and Jonathan Kadin overseeing for Columbia.
Holmes & Watson is the latest in the long-running trend of Sherlock Holmes projects including Guy Ritchie’s starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, and television series Sherlock and Elementary. Similar to the set up of Talladega Nights, Ferrell will play the more “showboat” character of Holmes, while Reilly plays sidekick Watson, always one step behind his friend.
Ferrell was seen earlier this year in Zoolander 2 and last year’s hit Daddy’s Home. He also starred in Get Hard with Kevin Hart, which Cohen helmed.
Reilly can be seen in next year’s Kong: Skull Island and The Little Hours.
Cohen is repped by CAA and Mosaic.
Ferrell is repped by UTA and Mosaic.
Reilley is repped by WME and Framework.
