Based on Allman’s biography “My Cross To Bear” by Alan Light, the film will chronicle the rocker’s life as a founder of the group The Allman Brothers. Hurt will star as the present day version of Allman, while Tyson Ritter stars as a younger version. Wyatt Russell will play Gregg’s brother Duane Allman.

Miller is helming from a script he co-adapted with Jody Savin. Both Miller and Savin are also producing for Unclaimed Freight Productions.

Hurt last appeared in Andrew Niccol’s “The Host” and Bruce Beresford’s 2-part TV mini-series “Bonnie and Clyde.” We’ll next be seeing him in Christian Camargo’s drama “Days and Nights” and Akiva Goldsman’s “Winter’s Tale.” Hurt is repped by ICM.
