is out with a hot new script called (translation: Black Market) and when I first heard about it, I knew I had to write about it.

For starters, it’s described as “a darker Jerry Maguire,” but with a Latino-American sports agent. Talk about a juicy role for an actor of color!

Next, the script hails from the writing team of and , who penned Spike Lee’s Black Klansman. That film sounds like it could be Lee’s first commercial hit since his 2006 heist movie Inside Man, and the scribes also served as co-producers on the project.

Based on a true story, Black Klansman stars John David Washington (Ballers) as a Colorado cop who successfully managed to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan and became the head of the local chapter. Adam Driver co-stars alongside Topher Grace, Ryan Eggold, Corey Hawkins and Laura Harrier. With the right campaign from Focus Features and Blumhouse, it might even make some noise this awards season.

We’ll update this post as territories are assigned to producers, though a sale could happen relatively quickly given the pedigree of the Bolsa Negra writers and the intriguing potential of this premise.

Rabinowitz and Wachtel are also adapting Casey Sherman’s true crime novel Animal, which tells the story of notorious mob hitman-turned-government witness Joe ‘the Animal’ Barboza.
