Woody Harrelson is circling the Brie Larson-starring THE GLASS CASTLE from Lionsgate. After teaming up with Matthew McConaughey in the award-winning True Detective, Harrelson may now be taking over a role for which McConaughey was previously in talks.
The film is based on the memoir by Jeannette Walls about a young girl who comes of age in a dysfunctional family of nonconformist nomads. Walls’ eccentric mother and alcoholic father would stir the children’s imagination with hope as a distraction from their poverty.
Destin Cretton is directing the project. He previously worked with Brie on the critically acclaimed Short Term 12. Andrew Lanham penned the most recent draft of the script. Gill Netter and Erik Feig are producing.
The film hit a hiccup earlier this year when Jennifer Lawrence dropped out of the project, but Lionsgate quickly recovered placing Larson in the role.
Harrelson is repped by CAA.
