“X-Files” Star Gillian Anderson Boards Starz Drama “American Gods”



Starz adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s AMERICAN GODS has added . The project reteams Anderson with executive Bryan Fuller after the pair previously worked together on Hannibal.

The series follows Ricky Whittle as Shadow Moon, an ex-con who becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to Mr. Wednesday. Ian McShane’s Wednesday has personal ties to a battle that is brewing between the old gods of mythological roots from around the world who are slowly losing believers, and the new upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media. celebrity, and drugs. 

Fuller and Michael Green are writing and showrunning the series with David Slade directing the pilot and additional episodes. FremantleMedia North America’s Craig Cegielski and Stefanie Berk executive produce with Fuller, Green, Slade, and Gaiman. Marta Fernandez and Ken Segna oversee the series for Starz. 

Recently, Anderson reprised her role as Dana Scully on Fox’s X-Files revival and will be seen later this year in the final season of crime thriller The Fall
