Screenwriter F. Scott Frazier has been tapped to pen the adaptation of Mark Millar and Stuart Immonen’s EMPRESS for Roth Kirschenbaum Films. Joe Roth and Jeffrey Kirschenbaum are set to produce.
The sci-fi comic, which sold out on its first publication in April by Marvel’s Icon imprint, centers on the wife of a galactic dictator who leaves her evil husband and takes their three kids with her, prompting her husband to rally his armies to get them back.
Millar is the writer of Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War comics, as well as numerous comics that have already made it to the big screen or are currently in development, including Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kick Ass, and Wanted. He recently made a deal with Waypoint Entertainment that will see his American Jesus and Supercrooks adapted into features.
Frazier recently worked on a draft of the Vin Diesel action pic XXX: The Return of Xander Cage. Collide, to which Frazier wrote the screenplay, stars Nicholas Hoult, Felicity Jones, and Anthony Hopkins, and is set for release later this year. His original spec Berliner is currently in development with Universal Pictures.
Millar is repped by Paradigm.
Frazier is repped by CAA and DMG Entertainment.
