It looks like Yaya Alafia is joining the cast of THE NICE GUYS. Alafia announced the news on her Instagram account yesterday. The period crime thriller, set in 1970s Los Angeles, centers on a recovering alcoholic and a private investigator are brought together by the suicide of a fading porn star. Together, they launch an investigation after the girl’s aunt swears she saw her niece after her “death” and find that the conspiracy is more far reaching than they expected. Alafia joins Ryan Gosling, Russell Crowe, and Matt Bomer in the project, which is being written and directed by Shane Black.
Alafia is known for her roles in the dramedy The Kids Are All Right, the action/sci-fi TRON: Legacy, and Lee Daniels’ The Butler. Her upcoming projects include a starring role in the Angela Bassett-helmed Lifetime movie Whitney, a biopic about the late singer, as well as a role in Dan Pritzker’s drama Bolden!
Alafia is repped by Gersh and Beth Rosner Management.
