Zendaya has been tapped to star in Marvel and Sony’s highly anticipated untitled reboot of SPIDER-MAN.
The Disney Channel alum joins Tom Holland who was cast in the title role of the comic book web-slinger. The movie is said to focus on the teenage life of Peter Parker. Reports say that the actress will be starring as a character named Michelle. There are no details about whether or not this is an existing character in the Marvel comics, a romantic lead or if this is a new character specifically made for the movie.
Jon Watts is set to direct the sixth big-screen iteration of Spider-Man. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are writing the script. It will be the first collaboration between Sony and Marvel. Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are producing the film.
Zendaya first stepped into the spotlight as an actor and singer on the Disney Channel’s Shake It Up! and currently stars in the series K.C. Undercover. Her other acting credits include Zapped and black-ish. She will also lend her voice to the animated feature, Duck Duck Goose with Jim Gaffigan and Carl Reiner.
She is repped by CAA and Peter Hess.
