〉 McCarthy joins over 160 Launch Pad writers who have landed representation in just three years.

Launch Pad alum Caitlin McCarthy has signed with Barry Krost of Barry Krost Management. McCarthy recently appeared as a finalist in the 2016 Launch Pad Pilots Competition with her original drama pilot FREE SKATE.

Free Skate, which has been described as Make It or Break It meets Black Swan, centers around a young figure skater who, after an injury ends her dreams of Olympic glory, is forced to join the world of professional ice shows to pay the bills. There she not only discovers how cutthroat the circuit can be, but that it may be the only place that can offer her another shot at going for gold.

McCarthy grew up in the world of figure skating, which inspired her Launch Pad script Free Skate. Her father served on the board of the Massachusetts Figure Skating Council and New England Figure Skating Council, and was a member of the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA), while her sister is a former competitive figure skater and coach. McCarthy currently lives in Worcester, Massachusetts and received an MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College. She was also a finalist in the 2014 Launch Pad Pilots Competition with her pilot Pass/Fail which she is developing with Jim Forbes, a multiple Emmy, ALMA, AP and Golden Mic award-winning writer, producer, correspondent, and narrator.

In addition to the Launch Pad, McCarthy’s scripts have been featured in numerous competitions including the Austin Film Festival, Final Draft’s Big Break, and Stage32. McCarthy has been accepted into the 2013 Norman Mailer Center Screenwriting Workshop, the Squaw Valley Screenwriters Program, and was nominated twice for a Presidential Citizens Medal for her work raising awareness of diethylstilbestrol – a subject that inspired her original screenplay Wonder Drug.

Krost is well known in the entertainment industry, both as a literary manager and producer. He has been involved in the careers of some of the entertainment industry’s leading talents, including Cat Stevens, Angela Lansbury, Richard Gere, Liza Minnelli, Peter Finch, Joan Collins, Elizabeth Montgomery, Jackie Collins, Michael Scott, Stuart Ross, John Osborne, and Lynn Mamet.

Congratulations Caitlin! We can’t wait to see what you do next!
