〉Acosta is one of over 180 Launch Pad writers to land representation.
Launch Pad alum Sarah Acosta has signed with Amanda Burnett and Josh Hornstock at UTA! Acosta’s script ECLIPSED landed her in the Top 5 percent of the 2015 Pilots Competition, catching the eye of her now-managers Robyn Meisinger and Ryan Cunningham at Madhouse Entertainment. Currently staffed on USA’s Shooter, Acosta continues the string of success Launch Pad alums have enjoyed in the entertainment industry. Shooter, based off the 2007 film of the same title, was renewed by the network in December and will begin its second season this summer.
Acosta’s Top 5% pilot Eclipsed hooked our readers and judges right away with smart tension, incredible writing, and a strong female protagonist everyone can relate to. It also asks an important, universal question: What happens when we die? A medical student with a haunted past joins a team of researchers determined to answer just that and discovers the truth might be closer to home than she ever imagined.
No stranger to success, Acosta was previously accepted into the NHMC Television Writers Program, an intensive workshop co-sponsored by ABC and NBC which prepares Latinas for writing jobs at major television networks. A University of Louisville graduate, Acosta moved to Los Angeles after earning her BFA. She then co-created a dramedy pilot acquired by Relativity that garnered major networks interest and wrote and directed two shorts in horror anthology Fun Size Horror.
The 2017 Manuscript Competition opens March 31. In the meantime, check out the Top 25 for the 2016 Features Competition, and come back to see the Top 10 announcement next Thursday, March 16.
