Pitch: | FREAKS AND GEEKS meets ADVENTURELAND |
Writer: | Brigitte Erickson |
Genre: | Comedy | Teen |
Why to Read: | Much like THE WONDER YEARS, this series has a deep affection for the past. The leading lady here is a truly original creation with a personality and goals all of her own design. This coming-of-age story stands out due to the colorful cast of characters who are far more than their appearances suggest. Structurally, the piece does a nice job of telling what could be a fairly linear story in a fun, contemporary way – with voiceover, flashbacks, and a kooky breaking of the fourth wall. It’s fun, it’s relatable, and it’s nostalgic in the best way. |
