Between July 1st and July 31st, we tracked a total of 19 feature specs out. This is a decline from the specs out the previous month, but it was to be expected with many taking long-awaited vacations, coupled with the bottlenecking we’re seeing in the development chain. However, it’s not the drop-off we anticipated and is still on par with the past month’s numbers.

Pitched in the vein of The Fault in our Stars but with a supernatural twist, the story centers on a teenager, who, after his girlfriend dies, discovers a way to reconnect with her by bending the laws of reality.

Big Beach Films is developing a new film exploring the origins of the world’s most popular board games. The untitled pic, which centers on the creation of the hit Parker Brothers game Monopoly, will be based on Mary Pilon’s book The Monopolists.

Christoph Waltz will lead and direct the film following the true story of Albrect Muth, an eccentric social climber who seduced and married a wealthy older widow, Viola Drath. The lies in their relationship came under fire when Drath was found murdered in their home.

Logline: Centers on a peace activist who falls deeply in love with a free spirited woman who refuses to commit to only one man. Desperate to stay with her, the activist transforms himself into a writer, nomad, junkie, and lead singer of a band called Steppeulvene.

Logline: After the big Halloween game, Hogeye High’s football players and cheerleaders find themselves being hunted down by someone dressed as the school’s mascot.

Logline: A former child art prodigy, and second generation petty thief, arranges to buy his way out of prison to spend time with his ailing son, only to be forced to change his plans and commit one last big job for the syndicate who financed his early release.

Logline: As a wedding approaches, the families of the bride and groom compete in a variety of physical and mental games to determine which last name the couple will take.

Logline: A man meets a beautiful woman on a plane who later disappears in the airport, but while searching for her, he attracts attention from an assassin.

Logline: After preventing a hit on an accountant, a paranoid schizophrenic hitman is forced to take her with him as he sets off to destroy the mafia family that wants her dead.
