La La Land, Free Fire, and I Am Not Your Negro took home the People’s Choice Awards at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.
FREE FIRE
Set in Boston in 1978, a meeting in a deserted warehouse between two gangs turns into a shootout and a game of survival.
When you combine two clueless gangs and one major gun deal there’s a lot that could go wrong. And all of that is illustrated in Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire, a gunfight comedy that lights up the screen with one of the most epic — and ridiculous — gunfights ever.
A24 has picked up the U.S. distribution rights to the crime thriller Free Fire, starring Brie Larson and Armie Hammer. The pic, directed by Ben Wheatley, was executive produced by Martin Scorsese.
The “21 Jump Street” star has signed on to play the lead role in the upcoming thriller after Olivia Wilde departed due to scheduling conflicts.
Logline: Set in Boston in 1978, a woman brokers an important meeting between two Irishmen and a dangerous gang who are selling them a stash of guns.
