In 1961, four white, jazz-loving teenagers hear that the great jazz composer and bandleader, Pope Dixon, is playing in town for one night only, and they venture from their familiar neighborhood of Pasadena to South Central, where they encounter a new and unforgettable side of Los Angeles and jazz.
