Hunters finishes up its first and, thank God, only season about as satisfying as a wet fart. I bet a lot of the writers never even bothered to watch every episode.
HUNTERS
What is “The Purge” and how can ETU figure out how to stop it on Hunters? There are two paths when it comes to dealing with the Hunters, and it pits Truss against Finnerman, but will they both survive?
Hunters attempts to tackle major themes in “Telegraph” but the lackluster storytelling of the first ten episodes keeps these themes from resonating at all as the day of the purge finally arrives.
“Our System”, catches up with the frustrating protagonist Flynn as he searches for answers. The hour flashes back to Flynn’s time in Afghanistan in 2007, where he and his unit are attacked by Hunters.
Regan’s reunion with her mother goes horribly wrong, and Flynn is barely able to keep himself from slipping into self-destruction and despair on Hunters
Hunters continues to fall deeper into irrelevance as ETU struggles to stop something called “The Purge” from happening. Can’t humans and aliens just get along?
Hunters opens up its world to tell us about the origin of the alien invasion as Brother #4 works hard to turn Regan back into one of them. ETU scrambles to find her before it’s too late.
As ETU tries to catch the illusive Brother #4 on Hunters, Regan gets caught up in a losing battle with her alien side, and Truss has to tangle with his demons as he realizes he’s culpable in the alien uprising.
Hunters continues on its sloppy, misguided course, as Flynn catches up to Abby and finds out the truth about their relationship. Regan, Briggs, and Truss work a lead trying to find the illusive Brother #4.
We’re almost halfway through the season of Hunters and the show is failing on almost every front as it drowns under the weight of its own bloated, self-indulgent world building.
This week’s episode of Hunters gives us a glimpse into the back story of Regan’s character. We already know she’s an alien and has a hard time controlling her impulses, but how did she find her way into the ETU, and where did she come from?
The second episode of Hunters is only mildly better than the first, leading me to wonder if this story is ever going to get going, or if it’ll continue to burden us with clichéd story and dialogue.
I had big expectations for Hunters based on the quality of the people behind the scenes working on the show, but the premiere episode falls flat as an example of a show that doesn’t know what it is.
