While today is no doubt a sad day for fans of The Get Down, they shouldn’t worry about this cast being out of work for too long. You’re going to be seeing plenty more of them on the big screen over the next few years. Let us break it down for you…
THE GET DOWN
Season 1, Episodes 10-11 – Seems like The Get Down gave up on itself. I expected to review 3 more episodes. Apparently, there are only 2 more. They are better than the first 3, but inconsistency kills this story’s chances of being liked. I guess the writers were like, “F*** it”. I share that sentiment.
Season 1, Episodes 7-9 – The Get Down returns, and it continues in its tradition of bringing us an “aggressively mediocre” (borrowed from Damon Young of VSB notoriety) story. There are only two things that save it from being a double dose of disaster – the comic book perspective and The Get Down Brothers’ performances. Otherwise, it’s wack.
Netflix has released a tiny teaser to announce an April 7th release date of the second part to Baz Luhrmann hip-hop musical drama The Get Down. Part II continues the adventures of a group of six Bronx teens starting their own crew during the hip-hop revolution of the ’70s.
The Get Down delivers one spectacular scene at the end of its last episode. Unfortunately, it’s too little, too late as the show wastes too much of the viewers’ time.
The Get Down is a huge letdown. This story should not have been given to the Baz Luhrmann because it is so much bigger than him.
A rag tag group of teenagers run wild in the streets of the Bronx in the late 70s.
