{THINGS WE LOVE} Thomas Harris’ “Red Dragon” in “Hannibal,” “Red Dragon,” and “Manhunter”

With the unfortunate conclusion of Bryan Fuller’s HANNIBAL this past weekend (read our review of the series finale here), we found it especially fitting to showcase Matthew Morettini’s video intercuting scenes from three adaptations of Thomas Harris’ brilliant novel, Red Dragon.

As fannibals know, Hannibal’s third season just recently caught up with the events of Red Dragon, featuring Richard Armitage as the titular killer. Morettini’s piece centers on the integral reunion between Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter interpreted in Michael Mann’s Manhunter, Brett Ratner’s Red Dragon, and Bryan Fuller’s Hannibal series.

In this encounter, Will has sought out Hannibal’s assistance tracking a terrifying new serial killer, though he truly is only there to “recover the mindset” of a killer.
