0The Launch Pad Pilots Competition Presents… | |
Title: | WHEN I GROW UP |
Logline: | A 20-something quits his unfulfilling job and records a weekly podcast documenting his journey to find his dream job. |
Pitch: | GIRLS meets HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER |
Writer: | Shannon Mier |
Genre: | Comedy |
Why to Read: | The writer has given us quick, smart dialogue, well-crafted comedic situations, and a cast of likable characters – everything you want and need in a sitcom. Not only did the writer take the time to create funny and irreverent humor, but they went a step further and crafted clear set ups for these jokes that paid off in spades later. These smart set ups are why darker toned, tongue-in-cheek shows like ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT are memorable and successful, and this pilot has that same level of potential. When all is said and done, there’s a lot of promise here, and the writer shows good instincts for comedy as they help keep a familiar premise funny and engaging. |
