Last night, Walt Disney Pictures released the first trailer for Ava Duvernay’s adaptation of  Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time, which opens on March 9, 2018.

It tells the story of a young girl, played by Storm Reid (12 Years a Slave), who goes looking for her missing father only to discover a fifth dimension in between time and space where she’s recruited by three celestial beings, played by Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Gugu Mbatha-Raw, to help in the light’s battle against darkness.

The movie also stars André Holland (Moonlight), Michael Peña, Zach Galifianakis and Chris Pine, and it’s produced by  Jim Whitaker and Catherine Hand with Doug Merrifield as executive producer.

Disney is opening the movie in early March which shows a lot of confidence in a movie based on a property that might not be as known as this year’s Beauty and the Beast, but Duvernay’s shift into bigger budget fantasy films should prove interesting after the drama Selma and the doc 13th.

You can watch the new trailer below.
