Now that David O. Russell has officially come on board to direct AMERICAN BULLSHIT (Ben Affleck passed), word is that the Oscar-nominee is eyeing Bradley Cooper to potentially star opposite Christian Bale in the pic.
A 2010 Black List mention written by Eric Warren Singer, the drama centers on the true story of the FBI’s 1980 undercover sting operation of Congress, dubbed “Abscam,” to root out corruption which was the brainchild of the world’s greatest conman.
Cooper just finished working with Russell on “The Silver Linings Playbook” and Bale won the Oscar for his performance in “The Fighter,” so why would Russell change it up when things aren’t broken? Looks like there is a reunion on the horizon.
Cooper has been busy trying to fill the void left by the studio decision to shut down “Paradise Lost,” which was supposed to start filming back in January in Australia. “The Hangover” star is doing just fine, however, as he recently also entered talks to star in Jaume Collet-Serra’s “Here There Be Monsters.” Oh, and don’t forget about “The Hangover 3.”
Cooper is repped by CAA.
