Ahead of its series premiere, FX has ordered season two of FEUD from creator Ryan Murphy and have announced Prince Charles and Princess Diana as the anthology’s next focus. Season one debuts next week starring Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon as Bette Davis and Joan Crawford.
The relationship between Charles Windsor and Diana Spencer took the world by storm in the early 1980s with their wedding in 1981 watched by over 750 million people worldwide. The couple and their two sons, William and Henry, were perpetually on tabloid covers but the marriage fell apart after well-publicized extramarital affairs. The pair divorced in 1996 and while Princess Diana remained beloved by throughout the world, her relationship with the royal family was reportedly contentious. The following year, she died in a car crash in Paris.
The project will be written by Murphy and Jon Robin Baitz, who will also executive produce with Dede Gardner, Plan B Entertainment, and Alexis Martin Woodall. Fox 21 TV Studios is producing.
FX has made several long-term commitments to Murphy’s anthology series in recent weeks. It was recently announced that there were set storylines already in the works for American Horror Story (the 2016 election) and American Crime Story (Katrina, Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp). Baitz is also a consulting producer on Katrina.
Murphy, Baitz, Gardner, and Plan B are represented by CAA.
