Lee Batchler and Janet Scott Batchler’s spec JACK & DICK has been scooped up by Hyde Park Entertainment. The company will announce a director for a project soon with production scheduled for early next year.
The feature is described as in the vein of Frost/Nixon and charts the true story of the little-known friendship between political rivals John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon, from their early years as Senators to the race for the Presidency, leading up to the historic 1960’s televised debate.
Alan Gasmer will produce alongside Hyde Park’s Ashok Amritraj.
“We are excited by the Batchlers’ original and unique take on the Kenndy/Nixon story. The screenplay fits Hyde Park’s goal of acquiring prestigious and interesting material along with generating more internal development,” said Amritaj.
Hyde Park is also producing The Seagull starring Saoirse Ronan and Annette Bening, and Back Roads starring Alex Pettyfer who is also making his directorial debut. Both projects will be presented to buyers at Toronto International Film Festival.
The Batchlers previously worked on the scripts for Pompeii and Batman Forever. They are represented by Gasmer.
