Mad Men regular Rich Sommer is set to star in A CROOKED SOMEBODY based on a story he developed with Andrew Zilch. Sommer will star opposite Ed Harris, Amy Madigan, and Joanne Froggatt in the black comedy that will be directed by Trevor White, from a script written by Zilch.
Sommer will play master showman Michael Jons, a self-dubbed psychic medium and charismatic charlatan who is kidnapped by an emotionally unhinged man. But the ruthlessly celebrity-seeking Michael decides to use the situation to his advantage, with devastating repercussions.
Trevor and Tim White are producing through their Star Thrower Entertainment. Starthrower recently wrapped on Rob Reiner’s LBJ, and is currently in preproduction with The Evening Hour, a thriller based on the novel by Carter Sickels.
Sommer has popped up in multiple television series since AMC’s Mad Men wrapped its final season, including Netflix’s Love, Playing House on USA, Grey’s Anatomy, and Comedy Bang! Bang! He recently appeared in Michael Showalter’s Hello, My Name Is Doris, and wrapped on Girlfriend’s Day with Bob Odenkirk.
Harris, known for his roles in The Truman Show, A Beautiful Mind, and Pollock, starred opposite Liam Neeson in 2015’s Run All Night and as the titular Cymbeline in the adaptation of Shakespeare’s play. He will next appear in the HBO drama series Westworld.
Production on A Crooked Somebody is expected to start in late July.
