Marvel’s latest superheros are about to be born on Hulu, and the first teaser from RUNAWAYS reveals their origin story.
Runaways is the story of six diverse teenagers who can barely stand each other but who must unite against a common foe – their parents.
As this first footage from the show reveals, they’re gonna go through “some Narnia shit” in their terrifying discovery of what their parents are up to en route to gaining superpowers and harnessing them to become heroes.
The six titular runaways are played by Rhenzy Feliz, Lyrica Okano, Virginia Gardner, Ariela Barer, Gregg Sulkin and Allegra Acosta.
Over the summer, Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb played coy when asked about where the teen drama from Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage fits in to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“It all lives in the same world,” the executive producer said. “How it’s connected and where it’s connected, it remains to be seen. Right now we’re trying to tell a great story Josh and Stephanie have crafted.”
Loeb did reference Iron Man, which seems to indicate the show will be part of the MCU rather than the Fox Marvel universe of X-Men and Legion or the Sony Marvel universe of Spider-Man.
“We didn’t view it as a superhero show,” said Schwartz who, with Savage, previously created seminal teen drama The O.C.. “We see it as a coming of age that exists within a Marvel world.”
Runaways premieres November 21 on Hulu. Watch the teaser trailer below.
