Netflix Takes on the FBI and Serial Killers in the Teaser for David Fincher’s “Mindhunter”

A new drama series is slated to hit Netflix in October and it’s going to be a doozy if the teaser trailer is anything to go by.

, based on the book Mind Hunter: Inside FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit by Mark Olshaker and John E. Douglas, revolves around two FBI agents in 1979 who interview imprisoned serial killers as a way to solve ongoing investigations. The agents will be played by Jonathan Groff (Hamilton, Looking) as Holden Ford, based on Douglas, and Holt McCallany (Sully, Lights Out) as Bill Tench, based on Robert K. Ressler.

Anna Torv, Hannah Gross, and Cotter Smith will also appear in the series, with David Fincher and Charlize Theron executive producing.

Intercut with a Rorschach test, the teaser doesn’t shy away from a creepy and sinister vibe, especially with choice quotes like, “It’s not our job to commiserate with these people, it is our job to electrocute them.”

So for everyone fascinated by serial killers (and I know you’re out there, I’ve gotten stuck in Wikipedia holes on them too) and crime, this series is for you.
