In a 180 departure from her role in Big Little Lies, Reese Witherspoon stars as her very own romantic comedy heroine in the first trailer for HOME AGAIN.
Witherspoon plays Alice, a recently single mother after separating from her husband (Michael Sheen). If the trailer is anything to go by, Alice doesn’t quite have her Los Angeles life entirely figured out — and things are only more complicated when she suddenly allows three young men to live with her. As is expected in a romantic comedy, feelings arise in characters as they’re thrust into funny and emotional situations.
The film hails from writer-director Hallie Meyers-Shyer in her debut and producer Nancy Meyers, a rom-com veteran who’s previously written and directed films such as The Holiday and Something’s Gotta Give.
Between films like this and the upcoming The Big Sick and Isn’t It Romantic, as well as television shows like Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Jane the Virgin, and The Mindy Project, romantic comedies are making a comeback in refreshing and fun ways and frankly, it’s about time.
