〉Gosling has been offered the role of Beast in Disney’s live-action remake.
I’m hearing that Ryan Gosling is Disney’s top choice to star in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and has been offered the role. The part that Gosling is being courted for is the Beast himself. The film will be a live-action remake of the 1991 animated Disney classic. This version will also be a musical, likely keeping the original’s beloved musical numbers intact.
Only last week it was confirmed that Harry Potter star Emma Watson will star as Belle. Bill Condon will helm the remake and was reported to have only boarded the project this past summer. David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman of Mandeville Films will produce. The film is set to begin production this year, with no tentative release date announced.
The project coincides with Disney’s current streak of producing live-action remakes of their classic animated titles. Thus far, we’ve seen Alice in Wonderland and this year’s upcoming Cinderella. Also, a Jon Favreau-directed live-action Jungle Book is in production and a live-action Little Mermaid has been in discussions.
Gosling recently wrote, produced, and made his directorial debut with the upcoming Lost River. He’s next set to star in The Big Short, The Nice Guys, and the Untitled Terrence Malick Project. He’s also set to produce Buzz: The Life and Art of Busby Berkeley.
