Warner Bros. and Reese Witherspoon’s Pacific Standard are developing a film adaptation of . Written by S.J. Watson (Before I Go to Sleep)Second Life is a psychological thriller about a woman who creates an online persona to find the truth behind her sister’s violent murder. Once a devoted wife and mother, Julia starts to lose herself in the lies she creates, jeopardizing not only her marriage, but her son’s safety.

Jesse Ehrman will oversee for Warner Bros., having previously worked on This Is Where I Leave YouThe Town, and The Hangover series. Ehrman currently has an adaptation of British anthology series Black Mirror in the works with Team Downey, as well as classic children’s detective series Encyclopedia Brown with Vertigo Entertainment.
Bruna Papandrea, Jeanne Snow, and Witherspoon will produce for Pacific Standard. Principal Papandrea recently produced Warm Bodies and All Good Things, as well as the Witherspoon-starrers Wild and Hot Pursuit. Next on Pacific Standard’s slate is true story Ashley’s War, sci-fi flick The Outliers, and crime thriller The Invisible Woman.
Watson’s debut novel, Before I Go to Sleep, was adapted in 2014 by writer/director Rowan Joffe, starring Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth, and Mark Strong. Watson is represented by UK literary agency .
