{Things We Love} “Interstellar” and Fandango Sending a Moviegoer into Outer Space

It seems like everyone we know is talking about Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. But now, there’s something to discuss besides awesome special effects, the McConaissance, and real-life scientific discoveries: what you’re going to pack for your trip into outer space.

Fandango, Paramount Pictures, and spaceflight developer XCOR Aerospace are offering a chance at an all-expenses-paid flight into outer space to anyone who buys a ticket to Interstellar on Fandango between now and December. The winner will receive free 4G simulator training, and will be flown 100 km above the Earth’s surface in XCOR’s Lynx Mark II. That 100 km mark, by the way, is known as the Karman line, and is widely used as the point where Earth’s atmosphere stops and outer space begins. NASA defines an astronaut as anyone who has flown above the 100 km line.

We are all buying our tickets to Interstellar through Fandango, now, but in the unlikely event that none of us win, we definitely want one of our Tracking Board readers to take the prize. Bon voyage!
