The popular USA series PSYCH is making a comeback for a movie, aptly titled Psych: The Movie, reuniting the original cast and creator. The show, which ended in 2014 after eight seasons, will start production on the two-hour movie at the end of the month to premiere for the holiday season.
The movie will see main characters fake psych detective Shawn (James Roday) and his best friend, Gus (Dulé Hill), team up with other original characters Lassiter (Timothy Omundson), Juliet (Maggie Lawson), Henry (Corbin Bernsen), and Chief Vick (Kirsten Nelson) to solve a mystery when an assailant targets one of their own.
Original creator Steve Franks will direct the film, which he co-wrote with Roday. They will also executive produce alongside Hill, and Chris Henze and Kelly Kulchak of Tagline Pictures.
In a statement about the project, Chris McCumber, President of Entertainment Networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, said: “Psych is a beloved part of our USA family, and what better time to reunite with family than the holidays.”
