HARLEY QUINN is getting her own animated series on Warner Brothers upcoming DC-branded streaming platform. Warner Bros. has ordered 26 episodes of the half-hour animated series. Working on the series is Powerless executive producers Patrick Schumacker, Justin Halpern and Dean Lorey.
Harley has had a huge resurgence since Margot Robbie played the famous villainess in 2016’s Suicide Squad. In fact, Deadline reports that Warner Bros. wants Margot Robbie to voice the iconic character once again. The studio is currently working on four different films starring Quinn including, Gotham City Sirens, a Joker and Harley Quinn film, A solo film and Suicide Squad 2.
The series will follow Harley after she finally breaks things off with the Joker (Yes girl!) and begins to establish herself as the criminal queen of Gotham. Other iconic heroes and criminals are expected to make appearances.
Harley was first created in the 1990’s by Bruce Timm andPaul Dini for Batman: The Animated Series as an accomplice to the Joker, before becoming his love interest and spawning her own line of comics.
This serves as the third series to be greenlit for DC’s new platform, following the live action series Titans and a Young Justice revival. The DC streaming service will launch in 2018.
