Sony Pictures Classics has released a trailer for their true story drama FILM STARS DON’T DIE IN LIVERPOOL. The film is based on Peet Turner’s memoir’s and revolves around the relationship between Gloria Grahame (Annette Bening) and Turner (Jamie Bell). In 1978 Liverpool Grahame was diagnosed with breast cancer and was trying to come to terms with her diminishing career. Gloria Grahame won an Academy Award for her role in Oklahoma! and The Bad and the Beautiful.

Paul McGuigan (Victor Frankenstein, Lucky Number Slevin) filmmaker directs the drama. The film has received a lot of praise, specifically highlighting Bening’s transformation into Grahame.

Also starring is Vanessa Redgrave, Julie Walters, Kenneth Cranham, Stephen Graham, Frances Barber and Leanne Best.

The official synopsis reads: Based on Peter Turner’s memoir, the film follows the playful but passionate relationship between Turner (Bell) and the eccentric Academy Award®-winning actress Gloria Grahame (Bening) in 1978 Liverpool. What starts as a vibrant affair between a legendary femme fatale and her young lover quickly grows into a deeper relationship, with Turner being the person Gloria turns to for comfort. Their passion and lust for life is tested to the limits by events beyond their control.
