Freeform’s Black-ish spinoff starring Yara Shahidi has added two new series regulars and new recurring guest stars.

Freeform alum Francia Raisa and Jordan Buhat have signed on as series regulars and singing duo Chloe x Halle (Chloe Bailey and Halle Bailey) have also signed on to recur in multiple episodes.

Shahidi, who is reprising her Black-ish role of Zoey Johnson in the spinoff, is also joined by Deon Cole, Chris Parnell, Emily Arlook and Trevor Jackson.

The spinoff, from Black-ish showrunner Kenya Barris, explores Zoey’s life as the popular, entitled, stylish and socially active 17-year-old daughter of Dre (Anthony Anderson) and Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross) heads off to college and quickly discovers that not everything goes her way once she leaves the nest.

On the new show, Raisa will portray Ana, an outspoken conservative freshman at Southern California University. Buhat will portray Vivek, a first generation Indian-American freshman at Southern California University with an endearing lack of self-awareness. Singing sisters Chloe x Halle will portray twin sisters Sky and Jazz, who are on the track team at the college.

Barris, Anderson, Laurence Fishburne, Helen Sugland and Brian Dobbins all serve as EPs on the series, which will premiere in 2018.
