English actress Felicity Jones will star in Juan Antonio Bayona’s A MONSTER CALLS. Focus Features and River Road are producing the project and are apparently looking to also nab Liam Neeson for the role of the monster. Based on the children’s fantasy novel by Patrick Ness, the story follows a young boy who loses himself in an imaginative world full of monsters and fairies that he creates as a way to deal with bullies at school and his mother’s illness.
Jones’ breakout role was opposite Anton Yelchin in 2011’s “Like Crazy” and she has since gone on to star in “The Invisible Woman” opposite Ralph Fiennes and she will also appear in the upcoming sequel “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” Also in the works for the actress are the dramas “True Story” and “Theory of Everything,” the Stephen Hawking biopic.
Jones is repped by WME.
