German star Alexandra Maria Lara has boarded Dean Devlin’s GEOSTORM. The sci-fi adventure flick stars Gerard Butler as a satellite designer who, when the world’s climate-controlling satellites malfunction, has to work together with his estranged brother to save the world from a man-made storm of epic proportions. Lara has been cast as Butler’s love interest, the commander of a space station who helps Butler save the world. She joins Jim Sturgess, Andy Garcia, Ed Harris and Abbie Cornish.
Lara may not be well known in the States yet, but it’s not for a lack of credits. She has appeared in everything from Spike Lee’s “Miracle at St. Anna” to Stephen Daldry’s “The Reader,” before going on to play Marlene Lauda in Ron Howard’s “Rush.” Her next role is opposite Michelle Williams and Margot Robbie in war drama “Suite Française.”
