Brian Grazer Reveals A “Splash” Remake Is In Development



It seems as though is jumping on the nostalgia remake train. The In the Heart of The Sea producer recently said that a remake of the classic is in the works.

Grazer, who worked on the 1984 original with his partner Ron Howard, told CNBC that he is looking forward to revisiting the story to give it a modern spin. The movie will follow the original treatment of the reboot titled Wet and will tell the story from the mermaid’s point, but with a twist. He also said that he has an actor for the project, but is not ready to announce the full details of the project.

The original, which was directed by Howard and produced by Grazer, starred Tom Hanks as a man who is reunited and falls for a mermaid (Daryl Hannah) years after she rescued him from drowning.

Grazer recently produced Lowriders which premiered at the L.A. Film Festival. He is also working on the Fox series 24: Legacy as well as the big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower.
