Charlize Theron Packs a Punch in the “Atomic Blonde” Restricted Trailer (Video)

Director David Leitch brings cool action, great style, and dry humor in a winning combination in the restricted trailer for ATOMIC BLONDE. Starring Charlize Theron as Lorraine Broughton, the film takes place in Berlin, 1989, on the eve of the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the shifting of superpower alliances. Broughton is a top-level spy for MI-6 who is dispatched to Berlin to take down a ruthless espionage ring that has just killed an undercover agent for reasons unknown. Helping her along the way is James McAvoy as David Percival, Toby Jones as Gray, and John Goodman.

With the use of Queen’s “Killer Queen” in the back half of the trailer, it’s hard not to have flashbacks to the trailers for Suicide Squad, but where that movie failed to find a cohesive voice, this film appears to succeed. Theron has starred in many action roles over the years, most notably Mad Max: Fury Road, and she already looks to be killing it in what we see in these fast-paced three minutes. It’s also exciting to see her bring out some comedy, even if it is of the dry, British variety. While Theron has been in many over the years, it is not what she’s known for but what’s in the trailer already she and the rest of the cast really sell.

All-in-all, I think we should start a countdown clock for when this movie hits theaters.
