Chris Hemsworth and Charlie Day are in talks to star with Ed Helms and Christina Applegate in VACATION. The rebooted franchise, penned by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, follows a grown up Rusty Griswold (played by Helms) who takes his own family on a road trip that doesn’t go exactly as planned. Hemsworth would play Audrey’s boyfriend, while Day would play a river raft guide. The project marks the directorial debut of writers Daley and Goldstein, as well.
Aussie Hemsworth isn’t necessarily known for his comedy chops, having starred as Thor in “The Avengers” and “Thor” franchises, as well as George Kirk in the rebooted “Star Trek” franchise. Next up, Hemsworth will reprise his role as The Huntsman for the upcoming sequel of the same name and will re-team with “Rush” director Ron Howard for the drama “Heart of the Sea.”
Day, conversely, is known for his comedy roles in “Horrible Bosses,” “Monsters University,” and “The Lego Movie.” On the small screen, Day is known for his role as Charlie on FX’s “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.” Next up, Day is set to star in John Krasinski’s “The Hollars.”
