FX has tapped Damon Wayans Jr. to star in the FX comedy SINGULARITY, executive produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg through their Point Grey banner. The pilot was picked up by FX after a bidding war from multiple networks.
The comedy is set in the future when artificial intelligence greatly surpasses human intelligence, resulting in profound changes to our society. Wayans plays Doug, a guy who loves to be in the moment and, contrary to some, Doug is happily reliant on AI and seeks out all the pleasures technology has to offer.
The project is from an original idea by Sonny Lee, who will write the script, and executive produce with Rogen and Goldberg.
Wayans has regularly appeared in a variety of half hours over the past few years after breaking out in ABC’s cult hit Happy Endings and followed by roles on Fox’s New Girl and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. He also teamed up with New Girl‘s Jake Johnson on the feature film Let’s Be Cops, in which they both starred, and the Fox comedy Henchman, which Wayans starred and Johnson executive produced.
