David Lyons is set to join Robert Redford and Cate Blanchett in TRUTH. The drama tells the true story of the fallout that occurred during the 2004 Presidential election when Dan Rather reported that George W. Bush had purposefully avoided combat in the Vietnam War. Redford will play Rather, while Blanchett has been cast as his producer Mary Mapes. Lyons will play Josh Howard, a 60 Minutes proudcer and Mapes’ supervisor who gets caught up in the scandal. Elisabeth Moss, Dennis Quaid, Topher Grce, and John Benjamin Hickey have also been cast.
Lyons got his start playing Dr. Simon Brenner on the latter seasons of ER before going on to play Sebastian ‘Bass’ Monroe in Eric Kripke’s Revolution. On the big screen, the Aussie has appeared in Eat Pray Love, Craig Lahiff’s crime thriller Swerve, and Lasse Hallström’s Save Haven.
