It looks like Donald Glover’s campaign efforts to be in a Spider-Man movie are paying off.
The Greendale Community College alum is circling a role in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING starring the new Peter Parker, Tom Holland. If Glover signs on, he will join Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Laura Harrier, Robert Downey Jr., Kenneth Choi, Michael Barbieri, and Michael Keaton in the third iteration of the comic book hero that will focus on Peter Parker’s high school days.
Jon Watts is set to direct the script by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. Marvel’s Kevin Feige and Sony’s Amy Pascal will serve as producers. The movie is set for a July 7, 2017 release date.
Glover is no stranger to the Spider-Man franchise. In 2012, during Sony’s reboot of the franchise, he started a fan campaign for him to star in it. The role eventually went to Andrew Garfield, but Glover made a cameo in The Amazing Spider-Man – appearing in a photograph in Peter Parker’s room. Glover also voiced mixed race Spider-Man Miles Morales in the animated Ultimate Spider-Man on Disney XD.
