Dustin Hoffman and Steve Buscemi have joined the cast of THE COBBLER alongside Adam Sandler, Dan Stevens and Method Man. The story follows a shoe man (Sandler) who has the ability to metaphysically step into the lives of the people whose shoes he repairs. The only thing that is known about the roles Hoffman and Buscemi will play is that Buscemi’s character is named Manny. But that’s still cool. Manny is a cool name. Newwwwwwws.
Anyhow, Tom McCarthy (“Win Win”) will direct from his own script. Producing will be Mary Jane Skalski.
Hoffman last directed the 2012 comedy/drama “Quartet” but his last substantial role was in 2010’s “Little Fockers”, if you ignore his voicework in “Kung Fu Panda 2” and “Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Masters.” He’ll next appear in Jon Favreau’s “Chef.”
Buscemi is still boozing it up and lording over all in “Boardwalk Empire.” His last film role was “Grown Ups 2.”
Hoffman and Buscemi are repped by WME.
