Emily Browning is reportedly attached to star in POMPEII for the little engine that could director Paul WS Anderson. Not an actual director of The Little Engine That Could but a director that keeps convincing people time and time again to give him a chance. And this might be that chance. This is as close to his higher “caliber” work on “Event Horizon” that we are liable to get.
Pompeii is set in late summer 79 A.D., and follows the story of the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, from the point of view of a slave of a shipping tycoon in love with his master’s daughter, and a gladiator fighting for his freedom. Browning would play the master’s daughter opposite that bastard Stark Kit Harrington in the male lead.
Producing will be Andeson, Jeremy Bolt, Robert Kulzer, Martin Moszkowicz and Don Carmody.
Browning first came to America’s attention with the kid’s movie “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events” and has since tried to get out of that niche with every opportunity including roles in “The Uninvited”, “Sucker Punch” and the deeply disturbing “Sleeping Beauty” (it’s not what you think). Up next for her “Stranded” and “Magic, Magic” both of which have already wrapped.
She is repped by UTA.
