Real life NFL player-turned-actor Matthew Willig has joined the cast of UNTITLED RIDLEY SCOTT SPORTS CONCUSSIONS PROJECT. The sports drama stars Will Smith as a neuropathologist who explores the effects of concussions on sports players and makes the discovery of chronic traumatic encephalopathy. Willig has been cast as Justin Strzelczyk, an offensive lineman who died during a high speed police chase in 20014 as a result of irreversible brain damage he sustained during his time in the NFL.
Since his time in the NFL, where he played on various teams including the New York Jets, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Green Bay Packers, Willig has turned to acting. Willig has played Special Agent Simon Cade in the eighth of the crime procedural NCIS, and has also appeared on Chuck and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. On the big screen, Willig has appeared in the comedies like Year One, We Are the Millers, and Stretch. His upcoming projects include the romantic comedy The Bounce Back, which stars Shemar Moore.
