Jason Isaacs Promoted to Starfleet Captain in “Star Trek Discovery”

The upcoming CBS All Access Star Trek spinoff series has found its captain in British actor . He will be playing Captain Lorca, at the helm of the Starship Discovery.

Plot details of the online series are being kept mostly under wraps, although it is known that it will take place a decade before the original series.

Isaacs joins an impressive cast, including Sonequa Martin-Green as the lieutenant commander, James Frain as Spock’s father Sarek, Anthony Rapp as a space fungus expert, and Michelle Yeoh as another starship captain.

Originally set to premiere in January, it has been pushed back to this summer or fall due to a variety of reasons, such as creator Bryan Fuller stepping down as showrunner. Once it does premiere, it will follow the lead of The Good Fight and air its first episode on CBS before moving exclusively to the online streaming service.

Isaacs appeared as the antagonist Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter franchise and was most recently seen in the thriller A Cure for Wellness and in the series Dig and The OA. Coming up, he has several films, such as London Fields and Behind the Glass.
