Director Jay Roach is in talks to direct THE TRADE for Warner Bros. The script, written by Casey Affleck and David Mandel, centers on the true story of Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich, two New York Yankees pitchers who caused a national scandal by swapping wives in the sexually-free 1970s. The project is being produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and Damon was originally thinking of directing but he can’t fit it into his busy schedule.
Roach is known for his biopics, having directed HBO’s “Recount” and “Game Change,” but also for his comedies “Meet the Parents” and “Austin Powers.” He’s currently working on the HBO series “The Brink” as well as the Tina Fey/Amy Poehler comedy “The Nest” and biopic “Trumbo” starring Bryan Cranston and Helen Mirren. He’s definitely a man of varied interests.
