Music video director extraordinaire Joseph Kahn is set to tackle the hot-button topic of race relations with his next film BODIED. Specifics about the story details are being kept under wraps, but the movie will take place in the world of rap battles.
Kahn developed the story with screenwriter and, appropriately, rap battle champion Alex “Kid Twist” Larsen. Adi Shankar will produce alongside Jil Hardin. The two previously worked with Kahn on the wildly viral Power/Rangers short.
The cast includes long roster that mixes rappers with Hollywood faces including Anthony Michael Hall, Debra Wilson, Charlamagne tha God, Alter Perez, Rory Uphold, Jackie Long, Callum Worthy, Shoniqua Shandai as well as battle rappers “Dumbfoundead” Parks, Dizaster, Loaded Lux, and Hollow Da Don.
Kahn is best known for his music video work, specifically during the golden TRL days of Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys. His award-winning video has carried over into 2016 with Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” and “Out of the Woods.” His previous feature film credits include the indie Detention starring Josh Hutcherson and the cult favorite Torque.
